About Concrete Manitoba

Concrete Manitoba is an industry association representing approximately 100 leading companies in the industry.

Established in 1971 as the Manitoba Ready Mix Concrete Association, Concrete Manitoba represents the interests of producers, manufacturers, and sellers of concrete and related companies.

Concrete Manitoba is driven by the desire to tell the story of concrete and promote its use for the betterment of Manitoba’s economy, the health of its infrastructure, the well-being of its communities, and the welfare of its environment.

Concrete Manitoba is governed by an elected and enthusiastic Board of Directors reflecting the diversity, talents, and foresight of its membership

OUR MISSION

To market and promote concrete, and advocate for its use in the development of Manitoba's infrastructure.


PRIMARY GOALS

To strengthen the perception of concrete as a versatile, sustainable, durable, energy-efficient, and trusted building material of choice.

To arrive at industry consensus on key issues of interest, and share those views with regulatory bodies and other decision-makers.

To provide meaningful networking and training opportunities to our members.


GOVERNANCE

Concrete Manitoba is governed by an elected Board of Directors, representing the producer, associate, and cement supplier membership.


FUNDING

Concrete Manitoba is a non-profit organization fully funded by its members.

Concrete Manitoba’s membership is comprised of producers, associates, cement suppliers, and Honourary Members.

Associate

$700 + GST (Membership Fee)

Granted by the Board of Directors to a firm, person, or corporation not directly engaged as a ready mix producer, but whose products and services are generally associated with ready mix concrete production.

Producer

$Price Varies (Membership Fee)

Granted by the Board of Directors to a firm, person, or corporation that produces and sells ready-mix concrete in the Province of Manitoba that has an established reputation of skill, integrity, and responsibility. Producer membership is granted to a ready-mix concrete operation that has received certification from the inspection process as outlined in the most recently adopted version of Concrete Manitoba’s Ready Mix Concrete Production Facilities Certification Guide.

Cement Supplier

$Price Varies (Membership Fee)

Granted by the Board of Directors to a firm, person, or corporation directly involved in the manufacture of cement.

Honourary Membership

Granted by the Board of Directors to individuals who have rendered distinguished service to the ready mix concrete industry.

Braden Shaw, C.E.T., CSO | Able Concrete

President

With over 15 years of experience, Braden began working in the construction industry in 2005. After completing his diploma in Municipal Engineering Technology through Red River College, he started with a materials testing role for quality assurance with the Materials Engineering Branch (Manitoba Infrastructure).

From there he moved into a Sales and Operations role with Lehigh Cement (Heidelberg Materials). In 2018 Braden began working for Able Concrete / Building Products & Concrete Supply as their Sales Manager.

Andrew Bahrychuk | City Mix Inc.

Vice-President

Andrew grew up on a small acreage in southern Manitoba and was taught young about working hard
and taking pride in the work we do. He moved away from the province in his early 20’s but always came back to Manitoba. His love for the prairies and small town feeling in the city have always been a deep calling.

Andrew started his concrete career in 2007 with City Mix as a redi-mix driver. He worked in every role in the industry from batching, dispatch, plant supervisor to quality control throughout the years. He is currently working as Operations Manager for City Mix concrete in Winnipeg.

Andrew’s hard work ethic, passion for the industry and all things concrete make him a strong voice and supporter for concrete Manitoba and everything concrete.

Matt Walk | Heidelberg Materials

Matt is the Manitoba and Saskatchewan Sales Manager for Heidelberg Materials. Starting his career with Heidelberg Materials in Calgary, Matt has had the opportunity to work for the ready-mixed Concrete business and Cement division over the past 16 years across the Canadian Prairies. Over this time Matt has served on the boards of Concrete Saskatchewan, Concrete Alberta and the Saskatchewan Construction Association. He also volunteered on many different committees and councils over this time helping provide direction to the industry.

I have been working in the construction industry for 33 years. Graduated from University of Manitoba in 1990, Became a P. Eng in 1992 and started my career working as an Estimator / Project Manager with Dura Structures in Regina Saskatchewan. From 1992 to 1995 I worked and lived in Regina. In 1995 I took a job as an Estimator/ Project Manager with Scott Builders in Edmonton. In Edmonton I worked on various commercial projects and in 2000 was given the Revy / Rona account and began building stores across Western Canada.

In 2003 I joined Inland a Technical cement salesman and was moved to Winnipeg. In 2006, I joined the Inland aggregate group as a project Manager and built a $ 30 M aggregate processing plant including a clamshell dredge in the Pine Ridge Operation. In 2008 after completion of the Pine Ridge Project, I was promoted to Operations Manager. From 2008 – 2014 I was the Operation Manager responsible for production and safety. In 2014 I was promoted to Area Manager responsible for Profit / Loss, sales, production, safety, and HR. I remained in this position till April 2023 when I joined Building Products as Manager of Quality Control.

I am actively involved in the community and have coached minor hockey, soccer, and baseball. I actively outdoor sports and enjoy golf, fishing, hunting in summer and curling, snowmobiling, and hockey in the winter. I am also active in a Mentoring program in APEGM. I sat on MHCA board from 2014 to 2023 as the chair of the Aggregate producers  committee and recently joined Concrete Manitoba in April 2023.

Currently at the helm as General Manager of Aggregates and Ready mix at Lafarge Canada, his extensive experience fuels his strategic vision. Dan Doschadis

Dan has over 35 years of sales experience and 25+ years in and around the concrete industry. He has experience in Fly Ash, Concrete Admixtures and Ready-mix Concrete. He is ACI Certified as a Field Technician Level I, MnDot Certified Concrete Plant I, and MnDot Certified Aggregate Production. Dan has served on the board for the North Dakota Ready- mix and Concrete Products Association for 10 years, serving as President of the Association in 2009. Currently Dan’s area is North Dakota, Eastern Montana, and Manitoba.

Rick Singh, M. Ed

Rick has a Master’s Degree in Education, where he focused on Leadership and Change Management in industrial settings, supported by a B.A with focuses in Administration and Economics. During his time with Ready Mix, he worked in a number of different dimensions including Occupational Health and Safety, Human Resources, Labor Relations, Operations and Logistics. During those experiences he became passionate about leadership, and helping the organization prepare to meet the demands of the ever-changing operational landscape by helping people and organizations process change.

Following his adventures in Ready Mix, he worked with Command Alkon for eight years where he sought out best practices within the Ready-Mix world and helped organizations build roadmaps to their future states. He currently works as the Director of Sales, for North America with Marcotte Systems. He has international work experience and has been an engaging speaker at multiple conferences and engagements on such topics as Change Management, Leadership, Emotional Intelligence, Team Building and Creating an Engaging Workplace. He also does volunteer work with people in challenging life situations helping them reconnect with their ownership of their life. His personal mandate is to leave a positive impact on the world by always giving back more than he takes in each interaction.
